MOUNT VERNON --  Coming off of a 12-17 year and losing there leading scorer Filita Kirkendoll the Lady Baron's are more focus than ever. This year the women's basketball team true focus is putting God first. The Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons have added new talent in order to maintain their competitive egde on there opponents.

Fans should look for exciting play from the nine returning players and the addition of solid transfers and freshman talent. This combination of talent may prove to be enough for the Lady Barons to have a successful season.

Having a facility like Gillis Gymnasium in the Snooks Student Activities Center, where the Lady Barons host their 2008-09 Tip-Off classic Friday, Nov. 7 against Warner Southern College, FL. This will be the contributing factor to the team's success.

The newcomers consist of 5 transfers and 2 freshmen. Also, with us having a junior varsity program, there are several players that will split time on the varsity squad also. This year will be exciting and challenging.

Seniors are ready for action.

Kanyatta Gatling, a 6-2 senior forward from Griffin, GA was very instrumental in the success of the Lady Barons on last season, also being named SSAC Player of The Week. She contributed a lot to the Lady Baron's and we look for Kanyatta (KeKe) to have a great year.

Shelby Pauling , a 5-4 senior guard from Orangeburg,SC saw plenty of playing time last year. She is my floor general, good shooter, and works hard at all times.  She has the potential to be the best point guard in the SSAC this year. Pauling was 12th in the NAIA and 1st in the SSAC in assists. We are looking for Shelby to do great things this year.

Kaela Gibson, a 5-6 senior guard from Deland, FL played a huge role last year. Gibson is very versatile. She has the ability to score, rebound, and can play every position on the floor. Gibson averaged 10 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals a game.

Monica Hunter, a 5-10 senior forward from Montgomery, Ala., brings hard work and a relentless attitude on defense to our team. She is working hard and this year should be her best year ever.

Kimberly Ray, a 5'7 senior forward from Dothan, AL will be expected to give us the needed presence on the inside both offensively and defensively.  She is the player that doesn't mind doing the small things that will help us to win games.

Tannisha Murray, a 5-6 senior guard from Statesboro, GA is very athletic.  She has worked extremely hard to be a better defender while stepping up on the offensive end also.

Among the Lady Barons' newcomers are Five transfers.

Zaneta Howard, a 5-11 Junior post from Birmingham, AL is ready to show her athletic ability. She has the ability to score at will but can also defend and rebound extremely well.

Angelica Turner , a 5-3 Junior. Shooting guard is extremely quick and fits in well with our up-tempo and aggressive style of play.  She will see valuable time at the shooting guard position.

Arimethaea Hess , a 5-4 junior guard from Tifton, GA will give us some needed experience at the point position.  She is quick and brings a hard-working attitude to our team.

TaNaeya Dortch, 5'5 junior guard from Opelika, AL will be an asset to the team this year. She has the knowledge of the game.

Kaya Allen, 6-3 junior center from Stone Mountain, GA will be expected to help Gatling on the defensive and offensive end of the court. She will be very valuable for us this year and the years to come.

Other returners also look to make impacts for the Lady Barons.
