10/18 Faulkner:
The Lady Barons came out with great enthusiasim as they wanted to send their beloved seniors out with a win. This game being our last for the season we honored our four seniors Adrian Bushart, Kristi Jenkins, Hailey Seats, and Christina Vazques. Faulkner got the first goal of the match and the Lady Baron where determined not to give and got the next two scores off Adrian Busharts assists to Brandi Greenwald to go up 2-1 at half time. Fighting hard in the second half to keep the ball out of their own half the Lady Barons we fighting hard until the Faulkner Lady eagles where able to break through in the 84th minute to tie the game up and get the game winner in the 87th minute. Leaving the final score at 3-2. But not to be out done Christina Vazques's boyfriend Lewis got down on his knee and proposed to her after the game and of course she said yes. Congratulations to Lewis and Christina!!
10/15 Georgia Southwestern:
The Lady Barons came out strong in the first half after being woken up from a Georgia Southwestern goal in the 11th minute. But not to be out done Brandi Greenwald put the equalizer in at the 15th minute mark off an assist by Adrian Bushart. Then in the 37th minute Chelsea Milroy sent a long ball back intowards the goal that went over the outstretched arms of the Hurricanes keeper. Leading 2-1 at half time the Barons were feeling pretty good. Not to be out done the Hurricanes came out ready to go and got into the attack right away scoring in the 1st minute of the half to even the score at 2 apiece. The Lady Barons fought back to take the lead at go up a goal off another Brandi Greenwald score only to give it right back on a foul in the box to give the hurricanes a PK. Conquering on this the Hurricanes where able to put another goal in to go up 4-3 and the Lady Barons fought hard trying to get a tying goal but was unable to come up with it in the end.
10/12 Southern Wesleyan:
The Lady Barons came out strong right from the start and was doing a good job pressuring the Lady Warriors from Southern Wesleyan. Play a good majority of the first half in the opposing teams half the Lady Barons just couldn't find a way to pull the trigger and put the ball in the back of the net. Three costly mistakes in the first half made the score 3-0 at half time. Coming into the second half the Lady Barons came out a little sluggish and gave up some corner kicks early and Southern Wesleyan was able to take advantage of the opportunities. But the Lady Barons where not done yet, Brandi Greenwald was able to break free from the last defender and go in one on one with the keeper and put it away taking away the SWU shutout.
10/4: Reinhardt:
This game was a game of grit and determination I wish I could only say that it was the Lady Barons who had the grit and determination. The Reinhardt lady eagles fought and out hustled the lady Barons for most of the game and they had to do it a man down. I don't know what happened but from the moment the player was ejected from the game we went down hill and Reinhardt woke up and took the game over and controlled the ball and therefore won the game. Scoring all three of their goals while being a man down. The lady Barons did fight to the end trying to get the ball into the back of the net but came up short as time ran out.
10/2: Thomas University:
The Lady Barons came out ready to fight and fight they did meeting the Night-Hawks head on for a 2-1 victory. Goals coming in the first half as the Lady Barons where able to control the game with good passing and composure on the ball. The first goal for the Barons came off a pass form Brandi Greenwald to Afiya in the middle of the field about 25 yards out. Afiya hit it one time and drove the ball inside the back post past the outstretched arms of the Thomas University goalie. The second goal was assisted by Mallory Williams to Christina Vasquez wide open on the back side as she drilled home a screamer through the hands of the Thomas University goalie. Thomas University kept fighting and was able to get a goal late in the second half to make this game a close one all the way to the end.
9/30: AUM:
The Lady Barons came out fighting hard and moving the ball well in the first half against a good AUM Lady Senator team. The AUM Lady Senators went on the board first, but the Lady Barons fought hard to stay in the game. Despite being down 3-1 at halftime the Barons could have only been down one or even tied on chances by Afiya Castle and Christina Vasquez late in the first half. In the second half the Lady Senators came out charging hard and trying to double down on every ball causing alot of pressure on the Lady Barons. Despite this and going down 5 more goals in the second half the Lady Barons where committed to keep AUM from getting double digits and Mallory Lashley played a couragous game on a hurt ankle.
9/27: LEE University:
The Lady Barons had a big challenge ahead of them as the number two team in the nation roled onto Brewton-Parkers campus for a SSAC league action. The Lady Barons came out fighting hard with defensive strategey to try and frustrate the LEE Flames offensive attack. The Lady Barons where able to hold on to a 0-0 score for the first ten minutes and they where playing well organized in the back, but the Lady Flames where able to sneak a run in from the back side and capitilzed on it putting there first goal of the day into the back of the net. From here on out it was a story of possesion and being able to control the game through passing and team work. The Lady Flames had it working well and controlled the game both in possession and scoring and went on to beat the Lady Barons 9-0.
9/23 Emory University:
The Lady Barons put up a good fight coming off a long road trip to Atlanta. The Lady Barons gave up 5 goals in the first half and only allowed 1 goal in the second half. The Lady Barons played a pretty good game defensively getting the lady eagles offsides 15 times, but the eagle attack was potent and quick. Our goal came in the second half as the Lady Barons where able to string together some passes to get the ball deep into Emory's half and Brandi Greenwald was able to play a beautiful ball into Mallory Williamson for a clean strike under the keepers hands and find the back of the net.
9/20 Brenau College:
The Lady Barons came out a little sluggish at the start of the game. But they were able to strike first off a Brandi Greenwald goal assisted by Hailey Seats. Then the Tigers of Brenau evened things up at 1 apiece. They then capitilized on a mistake in the back line to go up 2-1 at the half. From here the Lady Tigers of Brenau where just to much speed for the Barons to handle and went up 5-1, but the Lady Barons didn't give up. They where able to fight there way back into the box and Afiya Castle was there to clean up a loose ball created by Brandi Greenwalds hussle to jostle the keeper. In the end it was Brenau 5, and BPC 2.
9/18 Berry College:
The Lady Barons took another step forward even though the score doesn't reflect it. The Lady Barons played a good hard fought game against the Lady Vikings from Berry. They were able to move the ball around and challenge the Viking attack by getting them off-sides eight times. Coach Robertson says that the girls should be proud of how they played and be built up in confidence for our next game. The Lady Barons face another conference opponent on Saturday and they can take the good from this game and apply it to this next game and they should do well.
9/13 Emmanuel College:
After a long road trip the Lady Barons got off the bus and came out a little sluggish to start the game. Emmanuel went up early in the game and the Lady Barons fought back to even it up. Emmanuel's next goal came in the second half off a break away and was able to find the back of the net. The Lady Barons fought hard to get back into the game spending the last ten minutes in Emmanuel's half getting scoring opportunities, but was unable to put one in. Falling short on this day the Lady Barons will work hard and come out fighting again another day.
9/10 Bryan College:
After playing double overtime two days earlier the Lady Barons where a little sore physically but mentally they where ready to come out and play. For the first 20 minutes the Lady Barons moved the ball around the field and made the Lady Lions chase them all over the field. The Lady Barons where get some shot on the keeper early and fought hard to defend their own goal as Bryan College was looking for the quick counter attack. Both teams fought hard all the way to the end and through 2 more periods overtime. Neither team wanting to give up and pushing it all to the end only to see the game end in a 0-0 tie. The lady Barons are gaining confidence as they now have played 2 overtime games in one week and where able to be there at the end with only 13 players on the roster. Way to go Ladies and keep up the good work.
