Handbook of Psychology -- REF BF 121.H25 2003

Comprehensive handbook in 12 volumes containing articles that cover all areas of the discipline of psychology. Written by academic and practitioner leaders in the field.

ERIC -- Produced by the US Department of Education. Contains journal articles and other types of sources such as conference papers, reports from Congressional hearings and other research. Some non-government research and policy sources are included as well.

MEDLINE -- Created by the National Library of Medicine. Contains citations from more than 4800 biomedical journals. Medically geared but some articles may be useful for the clinical side of psychology.

Merck Manual -- Contains comprehensive information on many disorders. Includes information on typical therapy used today.

NLM Gateway -- Produced by the National Library of Medicine. Can search multiple resources at once including MEDLINE, Medline Plus (more geared to the general public),, and HSRProj (current research projects related to human services).

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection -- Contains full-text journal articles on both psychology and psychiatry.

Wilson Social Sciences Full Text -- Full text articles of journals related to many aspects of the social sciences. Database indexes and abstracts even more journals.

Sociological Collection -- Full text of over 475 journal titles related to sociology.

AllPsych -- Contains information on all aspects of psychology. Most helpful parts may be sections that provide overviews of psychiatric disorders, a reference section with biographies and a dictionary, and actual online texts.

AmoebaWeb -- Links to online resources in psychology within 27 categories. Includes websites, articles, and even book chapters.

Classics in the History of Psychology -- Historical articles on different areas of psychology written in the 19th and early to mid 20th century. Sorted by topic and author.

NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness -- Large mental illness advocacy organization. Among other content, provides overviews of mental illnesses and an evaluative resource on mental health services in each state (Grading the States 2009).

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) -- A division of the National Institutes of Health. Includes information on the latest in research and funding (such as clinical trials and grants) for mental disorders.

American Psychological Association -- One of the main psychology professional organizations.

Psych Web -- Online psychology books and articles including a general psychology text book and a section on Psychology of Religion.

Psychology Virtual Library -- Links to psychology resources on the web.

Social Psychology Network -- Connection to thousands of links of social psychology resources on the web. Has foci different than many sites including Prejudice, Discrimination, and Diversity; Prosocial Behavior and Violence; and Conflict Resolution and Peace.

A Statistical Directory for Education & Social Science Librarians -- A wiki intended for librarians but useful to those looking for statistics related to general psychology and child and school psychology.
