An academic scholarship opportunity for high achievers
Brewton-Parker will offer 5 scholarships to academically-qualified freshman enrolling in Fall Semester 2015. The applicant could be awarded up to $11,000 in scholarships per year. This will be in addition to any federal and state money the student may be eligible to receive.
The scholarships will be renewable annually for 4 years as long as the recipient remains fully enrolled at the College and maintain a 3.0 GPA.
The Pillars of Excellence scholarship is solely an academic scholarship. This scholarship is not for students seeking to play sports competitively at Brewton-Parker. If you receive this scholarship then you cannot be counted on the athletic roster or play competitively for any collegiate sport.

Minimum Criteria for Consideration
To be eligible to participate, a student must have a 3.25 GPA on their high school transcript AND one of the following two exam scores:
- SAT scores- the total for critical reading and math together must be at least 1100 with neither below 500.
- ACT scores- the composite score must be 24 with Math and English above 20.
SAT or ACT score reports may be received directly from the examining board or posted on the high school transcript by the school. If you have already had your scores sent to us, you do not need to provide them again. If you need to send the scores, the SAT school code is 5068 and the ACT school code is 0801.
High school transcripts must be posted directly from the high school to the address below.
1. Submit the application and all required documents no later than Monday, March 23rd.
Online Application for the Pillars of Excellence Scholarship
2. Required documents:
- Official high school transcript
- SAT or ACT scores
- Minimum of 3.25 accumulative GPA on his/her high school transcript.
- Two letters of recommendation:
- A letter from your high school guidance counselor or school official
- A character reference from a member of your local community
- One letter from you stating why you should receive the Pillars of Excellence scholarship.
When writing your letter, we would like you to consider the purpose of the Pillars scholarship. We want to award students who excel in academics and community service. Also, the College thrives on students who are proactive in creating and/or assisting student led organizations on campus. Furthermore, we desire students with great work ethic and who will represent Brewton-Parker well. Please note specific examples of what you are doing now that will show us that you will deserve the Pillars of Excellence scholarship.
Students who are home schooled must present two references as well, but as they have no guidance counselor or school official other than parents, may select two others to write the letters. Select carefully. Ideally, they would be able to attest to your academic ability and performance as well as your character.
On Saturday, March 28th, applicants will come to campus for an all-day competition which includes writing an essay and an oral interview by the Academic Selection Committee. The Committee will make written evaluations to be included in the applicant's portfolio.
The Committee will meet to review each completed portfolio and will place applicants on a list in ranked order. Five winners will be selected to receive the Pillars of Excellence scholarship. All students will be notified of the outcome no later than Thursday, April 9th.
Interviewees not selected in the top 5 will be on a waiting list in order of their rankings. Should a winner decline the scholarship, alternates will be chosen from the waiting list until all 5 scholarships have been awarded and accepted.
ALL DOCUMENTS should be sent to:
