Interdisciplinary Minors

The Arts & Letters Division offers a major in English for those who wish to teach English and for those who desire to prepare for graduate study in English, religion, and law.  The English degree is the favorite choice for those who plan careers in fields which require critical thinking and clear expression.  For more information about the English major, call:

English:

Dr. Ruth Ellen Porter (912) 583-3101

We offer both a major and a minor in Spanish for students who plan careers in which a proficiency in Spanish may be desirable or necessary. Many majors require study of a foreign language. The Division offers basic courses in Spanish, Fremch, and German to fulfill this requirement.  For more information about foreign language study, call:

Creative Expressions

The BA in English has the added advantage of allowing a student to focus on the fine arts as well, especially creative writing and film studies.  These emphases prepare a student for work in a varitey of artistic and commercial areas, and they also provide unique preparation for graduate studies in art-related fields.

Students in the visual arts may develop their abilities in art studio classes, or, alternatively, they may make their primary focus the history and theory of art .  For more information about the Arts programs, call:

Creative Writing:

   Professor Thom Brucie (912) 583-3104

Film Studies:

   Professor Gareth Jones (912) 583-3102
