Language Appreciation Day History

LAD is the brainchild of Dr. Ruth Ellen Porter, Chair of the Division of Arts and Letters, which includes the Department of Modern Languages.  Dr. Porter envisioned setting aside one day

during the spring semester to focus on languages and to foster a greater appreciation of language learning by inviting local high school Spanish classes to BPC for a day of competitive fun. Winners of the Bryan Rampey first-place Trophy are as follows: LAD04, Trinity Christian School of Dublin, GA; LAD05, Trinity Christian School of Dublin, GA; LAD06, Montgomery County High School of Mount Vernon, GA; LAD07, Claxton High school; LAD08, Tattnall County HS; and most recently, LAD09, Claxton HS.   The Head of BPC's Modern Language Department, Professor James P. Bell Jr. is responsible for planning and implementing LAD.
