BARONS BASEBALL Young talent is gaining experience as Brewton-Parker College's baseball team prepares for upcoming conference challengers. Barons coach Chad Parker is guiding his team through pre-conference competition. This past week the team traveled to Valdosta State and hosted Claflin University. Brewton-Parker lost 0-11 and 4-5 to Valdosta State and then split a doubleheader with Claflin University. The Barons lost the opener 8-11 in extra innings and then won the late game 11-1. The Barons record stands at 3-8 as the young players work toward unifying their efforts. "We are very young," said Parker, "which will cause us to make a lot of early season mistakes. As the season goes along, we will learn from those mistakes and get better. If we do that, we will have a chance to be successful late in the season and make a playoff run," said Parker. The Barons this week wrestle with Augusta State and Edward Waters College before opening Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference action at home against Shorter College on March 1.
Baseball at Brewton-Parker College is under way. Baron pitcher Marc Shealy, a junior from Warner Robins, Ga., fires a strike in recent action against Claflin University. Brewton-Parker's team hosts Shorter College in a three game series on March 1 and 2.
