Basketball season opened for Brewton-Parker College's Barons with a pair of tournament wins.
Coach Steve Barker and the Barons traveled to Denmark, S.C., and opened the season with competition in the Voorhees Classic.
In Friday's opening round action, the Barons defeated Voorhees 91-88.
Point guard Derrick Green opened his senior campaign by leading Barons scoring with 35.
The Barons took the second season game at the Voorhees Classic by beating Barber Scotia 77-75. 
The Barons will face Morris College in their fourth game of the season at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Parker Gymnasium will serve a final year as the home of the Barons, with the new Student Activities Center scheduled for opening before next year's season.

Brewton-Parker College's basketball Barons are claiming victories in pre-conference battles.
The Barons are 3-1 after this week clashing with Clafin and Morris colleges.
Claflin won Tuesday by the score of 77-75 and the team rebounded against Morris for a thirty-point win.
Jarvis Smith, Hector Solano and Derrick Green all scored in double-figures.
Smith, a sophomore guard from Atlanta, Ga., scored 24; Solano, a sophomore post from Miami, Fla., had 13; and Green, a senior guard from Macon, Ga., added 10.
Coach Steve Barker and the Barons spend the rest of November battling non-conference competitors before returning to Parker Gymnasium on Dec. 3 for competition with Voorhees.

Brewton-Parker College's Barons are off and running as the 2002 campaign opens. Power forward Johnny DeFairia, a sophomore power forward from Brooklyn, N.Y., drives through Morris defenders Saturday for a goal.

Both Brewton-Parker College basketball teams return next week for Parker Gymnasium clashes.
The Barons are 4-2 and preparing for challenges against Voorhees College and Allen University.
Coach Steve Barker and his Barons will host Voorhees at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3. Allen will be the second half of a doubleheader and will begin at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6.
Lady Baron coach Tommy Dalley and his team have jumped out to a record of 6-2.
Brewton-Parker's women claimed Thanksgiving holiday weekend victories over Barber-Scotia, 61-52, and Claflin, 70-67.
Upcoming home games are set against Flagler College and Allen University.
The Lady Barons will host Flagler at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4. Allen will be the first half of a basketball doubleheader and will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6.
