Lady Barons coach Jason Bryant congratulates members of Brewton-Parker College's at the conclusion of their Brenau victory. The Lady Barons' first-ever conference victory guaranteed the team a winning season.

Lady Barons used the season's final home game to make Brewton-Parker College history and send a message to conference competitors.
The Lady Barons defeated Brenau 3-1 to be ensured of winning at least half their games, which is a monumental step.
On top of ensuring the best-ever Brewton-Parker volleyball season, the crowd gathered in Parker Gymnasium watched the Lady Barons claim their first ever conference victory.
The volleyball program, now in its fifth year, has finally begun building an experienced team.
"We used to be in a different league," said Lady Baron coach Jason Bryant. "But we are making giant strides and are in the rear view mirror of the conference's teams."
"We've been so many times close to getting a conference win, but something always seemed to keep us from closing out the wins," he said. "This win sure does feel good. I'm proud of the women."
The Lady Barons have built a record of 16-15 (1-7) with one remaining contest prior to the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference tournament.
Brewton-Parker's team will travel to Central, S.C., for the tournament being held Nov. 9-10 on the home court of Southern Wesleyan University.

VOLLEYBALL AWARDS

A trio of Brewton-Parker College volleyball standouts claimed GACC awards.
This year's Lady Baron volleyball team set a new benchmark for team excellence by setting a record for the number of wins.
Melissa Brown, Aislyn MacLeod and Jeni Paul earned Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference awards for their season performances.
"All three of these girls worked extremely hard all season and in every practice," said Lady Baron coach Jason Bryant.
"All three will return as standouts on next year's team," he said. "We will have a good team and will be a GACC contender."
Brown, of Kelowna, Canada, received recognition as the GACC's Freshman of the Year.
Coach Bryant said Brown earned the award.
"She led the conference in blocking and was fourth in hitting percentage," he said.
"Melissa was much more than we bargained for," Bryant said. "She was great."
The GACC All-Conference Team players received recognition for stepping up their performance at season's end.
MacLeod, a sophomore from Kelowna, Canada, and Paul, a sophomore from Canton, Ga., earned spots on the team of the conference's elite.
"Aislyn played extremely well," Bryant said, "especially the last few weeks of the conference schedule."
He noted that her hitting average rose almost 15 percent during the final important battles.
Paul, last year's GACC Freshman of the Year, ranked second in hitting and fourth in assists among the conference players.
"She is a smart player," said Bryant. "She's always in the right place doing the right thing."
