A Busy November
By: Justin Dover
It has been a very eventful month for the Brewton-Parker College Barons baseball program. On the 3rd of November, the annual BPC Showcase was very successful. There was a turnout of over 50 high school players and they were surprisingly talented. There were players from all over the state of Georgia; and parts of South Carolina and Florida which displayed their talents for nine college coaches. The schools represented were Piedmont College, Young Harris College, South Georgia College, Valdosta State University, Abraham Baldwin College, Georgia Southwestern University, Bevill State Community College, Tusculum College, and Brewton Parker College. The current BPC players were very helpful to all on Saturday. “They answered questions from kids and parents as well as do other jobs throughout the Showcase. They represented our program and Brewton Parker College very well” stated Coach Brant.
There was no let down in the action at the Barons baseball field after the Showcase. The Barons World Series began on November the 5th. With three games of the best of five series already in the books, several players are really shining. The seniors have been putting up some big numbers on the field and have also been great leaders. We also have some talented freshmen who are battling for starting spots as well. The competitiveness of our guys has shown a lot about our team. They want to win every pitch, every out, every inning, and every game, and I feel that this team will do whatever it takes to get that win. The World Series resumes Monday November 12, with game five on the 13th.
