Men's soccer team splits preseason games
The Brewton-Parker College men's soccer team started out their 2007 season by splitting their two preseason games. On August 15, BPC defeated North Georgia College and State University, 2-1. On August 18, the Barons were shutout by South Georgia College, 3-0.
Against NGC&SU, the Barons scored their first goal when freshman Horgcio Ocampo of Jonesboro dribbled the ball through the entire opposing team by himself, and neatly placed the ball in the back of the net. The second goal was scored off a header by forward Nate Okogie, a freshman forward from Snellville. Okogie's goal was assisted by Ocampo. After the Barons were up 2-0, Jose Herrera of the NGC&SU scored against the Barons, making the final score 2-1.
Keeper chores were divided among three players with sophomore Mike Gibbs of Middleburg, Fla., junior CJ Davis of Richmond Hill and senior Nick Rodriquez of Crestview, Fla. each playing 30 minutes. Gibbs had two saves, Davis had two saves and Rodriquez had three saves. The Barons were out shot by NGC&SU eight to six.
