#13 Christina Vasquez |
Christina Vasquez came to Brewton-Parker last year from Miami, Fla. where she has always lived. Her parents own a construction business; she has two brothers and one sister. One of her brothers plays club soccer. When they are not attending soccer games, the family enjoys camping out, going to the beach and visiting the theme parks in Orlando.
Aside from soccer Vasquez is a judo enthusiast and has traveled all over the United States with her judo club to compete in tournaments.
Vasquez started playing soccer in middle school. After two years of middle school ball, she went on to play varsity soccer at Dr. Michael M. Krop High School. In her senior year, Vasquez was named a captain, scored 10 goals, had five assists and her team won the district championship.
Last year at BPC, Vasquez red-shirted. In 2005 she will play mid-field and forward for the Lady Barons. “Christina has an exuberant personality off the field which translates into a very high work rate on the field,” according to Glass, “she is like the Energizer Bunny out there.”
Vasquez is majoring in biology with minor in chemistry. After she gets her bachelor's degree at Brewton-Parker, Vasquez plans to attend medical school and follow a career in medicine either as a physician or as a forensics scientist with the FBI.
