#20 Jerneil Nivet

Jerneil Nivet

Jerneil Nivet was born in Maloney Gardens where she grew up and lived all her life with her dad, Derrick Nivet, her mom Julie Nivet, and two brothers, Aaron who is four years older and Stephon who is sever years younger.  As a family, the Nivets enjoy dining at a particular Chinese restaurant and taking trips to the beach.

When Jerneil’s  parents were younger they were both involved in sports. Her mom played high school hockey and her dad played soccer and ran track. My elder brother also played recreational soccer in his teenage years..

Jerneil started playing recreational soccer with her brother and his friends at the age of ten just in the neighborhood. In her second year of high school, our P.E. teacher tried to form a female soccer team but most of the players were not committed so we were not successful.

When she was thirteen years old she joined the Jean "Jah" Lillywhite Coaching School. This was in the year 2001. At the coaching school, I was awarded best disciplined player for that same year, player of the months of March and October 2002, and goal scorer for the year 2002.

During the year of 2003 Jerneil  left the coaching school and joined a track and field club, but after one month she realized how much she loved soccer and joined another soccer club called Netshakers.  At this time, she also began training with the National U-20 team.  After playing with Netshakers for two years Jerneil was called to be a part of the Real Dimension F.C. in 2005. She is still part of the National U-20 team today.

In 2006, while in high school to complete her A-Level studies they formed another soccer team and Jerneil was awarded the MVP award by the school for that year. Throughout her years of playing soccer she has played in both foward and midfield positions.

Jerneil plans to major in psychology at Brewton-Parker, and become a highly ranked psychologist in Trinidad and Tobago.
