Marion Montgomery

Marion Montgomery, scholar, critic, and award-winning poet and novelist, is one of America's preeminent men of letters. He is a prolific author of an an amazing variety of works, including a monumental three-volume cultural critique, The Prophetic Poet and the Popular Spirit. Professor Montgomery has also written hundreds of poems, twenty-seven short stories, three novels, and one novella. Montgomery has published seventeen books of literary and cultural criticism. He received numerous awards for his fiction and verse in the 1960s and early 1970s. In 2001 he received the Stanley W. Lindberg Award for outstanding contributions to Georgia's literary heritage.
