CONFERENCE AND CALL FOR PAPERS:

The distressed poet - William Hogarth

For the third Georgia Philological Association meeting in Mount Vernon, Georgia, we invite proposals for session topics, panel discussion topics, and scholarly papers on any subjects relating to American, British, French, Hispanic, Russian, German, or Slavic literature or language, as well as linguistics, speech/oral communication, drama,  fine arts, film, rhetoric, composition, philosophy, history, translation, the general humanities, interdisciplinary studies, and pedagogy. 

This year's plenary speaker is Marion Montgomery, Professor Emeritus of English, University of Georgia.

Special sessions already planned include Neglected and Forgotten Female Authors, Thomas Hardy, and Films of Werner Herzog.  Reading times for individual paper presentations will be strictly limited to 15 minutes (approximately eight double-spaced typed pages).  Although convention presentations are limited to 15 minutes, presenters may submit longer or more complete versions for publication in the Journal of the Georgia Philological Association

Specific session times, content areas, and sites will be determined as soon as we have received and evaluated all submissions.  All presenters must be members of the Georgia Philological Association (membership fees are payable at the annual meeting in February).  

Please submit abstracts of approximately one hundred words in English for session topics, panel discussion topics, and scholarly papers by Friday, January 25, 2008, to Harry Bayne, Brewton-Parker College #2025, P.O.
