About the Program
Each Spring and Fall semester
Brewon-Parker College hosts a Math & Science Festival for
kids in grades K-12. Our goal is to promote and encourage
the discovery and enjoyment of science and math. The program
was begun in the Fall of 2002. The program
increases
in
size
each
semester.
Brewton-Parker's
division's of Math & Science and Education work together
with the Heart of Georgia
Youth Science & Technology Center to put on this event.
This Spring's Math-Science Festival will have a large number of astronomy projects and three presentations based on an energy efficient home building and transportation.
We have a large number of
volunteers assist us with the program. Here are some of
those how assist us each year.

projects the Brewton-Parker students prepared as hands-on
projects for kids to participate in during previous Math
& Science Festivals.
- Lava Lamp in a Bottle: Oil, Water, and Alka-Seltzer
- PVA Slime: Borax and Polyvinyl Alcohol
- Gooblek: Corn Starch and Water
- Solutions vs. Suspensions: Water, Sugar Crystals, Cinnamon, etc.
- Over the Rim: Surface Tension and adding Paper Clips to a Cup of Water
- CO2 Production Balloons: Baking Soda and Vinegar
- Upside-Down Water: A Study of Atmospheric Pressure; half-filled cup of water upside down with index card
- Phenolphthalein Indicator
- Borax and White Glue Slime
- Pop Rocks and Soda
