Repertoire Requirements:

  1. All contestants must be prepared to play two contrasting movements from a standard work of the classical repertoire or contrasting movements from two separate works. One selection may be an Etude or a Solo piece; the other selection should be accompanied by piano (or both if the applicant so chooses). Contemporary Christian, jazz, pop, country, etc. are not allowed.
  2. TWO originals of the sheet music for each selection must be provided, one for the judges and one for the accompanist. Use of photocopies are not allowed unless a letter of permission from the publisher is provided.
  3. All contestants must use a live accompanist. Absolutely no taped accompaniments are allowed. Performers may bring their own accompanist or use one provided by Brewton-Parker College.
  4. Arrangements, transcriptions,unpublished works, or original compositions of the applicant are not permissible.

Guidelines:

  1. Contestants must be between 16-24 years of age and prepared to begin a major in music as a freshman the coming fall.
  2. Contestants should submit:
    1. An official application form.
    2. Application Fee of $25.00
    3. Letter of recommendation from a teacher.
  3. Contestants must be prepared to begin a Bachelor of Music degree in the fall immediately following the competition.
  4. Prizes will be offered to students who choose to attend Brewton-Parker College; therefore students must successfully apply to and be accepted by Brewton-Parker College before prizes will actually be awarded.

Contestants must indicate their intention to use an accompanist provided by Brewton-Parker College on the application form.
