Susan Eernisse

Susan Freeman Eernisse completed her Associate of Fine Arts degree in music at Anderson University (SC) in 1977. She earned the Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Berry College in 1979, and the Master of Education in middle grades education from Berry in 1989. She received Orff Level I training at Shorter College, and completed Levels II and III at the University of Kentucky. As a public school educator in Georgia, Mrs. Eernisse taught for 8 years in the Polk County School System and 9 years in Vidalia City Schools. Following her years in public school, she taught music in grades K-12 at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons, GA for an additional 3 years.
Currently Mrs. Eernisse is the director of Children’s Choirs at Vidalia Presbyterian Church, and serves as a volunteer in the same capacity at The Oaks Baptist Church. She began teaching courses in music education at Brewton-Parker College in 1997, and supervised numerous student teachers and practicum students in her public school classroom.
Mrs. Eernisse has worked as a volunteer with church choirs of all ages for more than 30 years. In addition to her work with children’s choirs, she is an active member of her church’s music and worship ministry, assisting in many aspects of worship planning. She has taught on the faculties of Georgia Baptist Music Camps for several years, serving as Choral Clinician for the Children’s Music Camp in 2008. She is an active curriculum writer for Lifeway’s Children’s Music Series and Dovetail Music, and has been a conference leader for many local, state and regional children’s choir training events. She has been listed among Outstanding Young Women of America and Who’s Who Among American Women.
A native of South Carolina, Mrs. Eernisse is married to Dr. Glenn Eernisse. The Eernisses are the parents of two daughters, Melody Rouse and Jessica Eernisse, and the grandparents of Sarah and Rebekah Rouse. |
