MOUNT VERNON—Henry Ward Beecher once said: “To become an able and successful man in any profession, three things are necessary: nature, study, and practice.”

The art of a learned instrument and the ability to read music are both skills that come with great and diligent practice. Another opportunity to learn in depth is to study with a professional.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, Brewton-Parker College students, musicians within the surrounding community, or anyone who had a desire to study with a world renowned musician were invited to participate in a Master Class instructed by the principal trumpet of the Russian National Orchestra, Vladislav Lavrik. This class was an exciting time for Lavrik to impart knowledge to the minds of the aspiring musicians.
After the master class, offered in Gilder Recital Hall on Saturday morning, Lavrik performed in concert in Gilder Recital Hall at 7 p.m.
