Brewton-Parker’s Newnan Center approved to offer degrees
Brewton-Parker College, which has offered coursework to Newnan area residents since January 2004, has received approval from its national accreditation agency to offer two degree programs through its Newnan Center.
In a recent letter, James T. Rogers, executive director of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Colleges told Dr. David R. Smith, Brewton-Parker's president: "We approve the proposal and shall include the site within the scope of accreditation previously granted."
SACS’ approval allows the Newnan Center, located at the Central Educational Center, 160 Martin Luther King Drive, to offer bachelor’s degrees in ministry and business administration.
"Our desire at Brewton-Parker College is to provide excellent educational opportunities that are grounded in a Christian worldview for the people of Coweta County,” said Brad Kissell, Brewton-Parker’s dean of enrollment management.
“We plan to offer degree programs that meet the needs of traditional learners as well as working adults. Our eight-week classes and our new degree-completion program are prime examples of our commitment to serving a wonderfully diverse population.”
The Newnan Center is Brewton-Parker's sixth external campus in addition to its main campus in Mount Vernon. Other external programs are located in Baxley, Glennville, Hinesville, Norman Park and Savannah.
“The Newnan Center has great potential for Coweta County residents and for Brewton-Parker College,” President Smith said. “SACS’ approval of this educational site offers the college an opportunity to meet our mission of providing excellent higher education from a Christian worldview to the many people who reside or work near our center in Newnan.
“For local citizens, our presence in this area provides a strong presence for Christian higher education in a community not formerly served with such an option. The most rapidly growing colleges and universities in America are Christian, and those who continue their studies with us will soon understand why.”
Inquiries concerning the degree programs and other coursework offered at Brewton-Parker's Newnan Center may be directed to Janie Lore, the center's director, at 770-683-3245.
