Baron Singers to perform spring concert on April 19

The Baron Singers of Brewton-Parker College will be performing their spring concert Tuesday, April 19, on the BPC campus, director Glenn Eernisse has announced.

The free concert begins at 8 p.m. in the Gilder Recital Hall of the Miller Music Building.

The Baron Singers is an auditioned student ensemble consisting of eight singers and an instrumental combination well known for its high-energy performances under the direction of Eernisse, chair of the division of music.

Among the selections the Baron Singers will perform are “We Are Family,” “Footloose,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Georgia On My Mind,” “The Long and Winding Road” and a medley of disco hits called “Disco Fever.”

“The concert promises to be a fun and enjoyable show that appeals to people of all ages,” Eernisse said.

Vocalists in the Baron Singers are: Sharon McHenry, Katelyn Pierce, Krista Vickery, Linda Cranmer, Lisa Vincent, Steven Dawson, Doug Pittman, and Dallas Wilke.

Baron Singers band members are: Chris Elkins, Brandon Pafford, Jamie Sexton, David Mathis, Jonathan Lewis, Brandon Herrington and Danny Steis. Michael Crosby is the sound technician.

In their earlier years, the Baron Singers were identified with folk music but have evolved into a very versatile performing ensemble, including styles from gospel and spirituals to jazz, pop and rock music from the past and present.

In addition to performances on campus and at area events, the Baron Singers take an annual tour.

Inquiries concerning the concert or the Baron Singers may be directed to the BPC Music Division at 583-3136.
