Band music lovers and enthusiasts are invited
to join Brewton-Parker College's Wind Ensemble, which this year is under the
direction of Dr. Armenio Suzano
Jr., associate professor of music. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 7-9 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall of the Miller
Music Building on the Brewton-Parker campus in Mount Vernon.
"We had a very positive first rehearsal with good community support," said
Dr. Glenn Eernisse, chair of Brewton-Parker's Music Division. "We see
a bright future for the ensemble and invite those who have love for music and
desire to play in a exciting ensemble to contact Dr. Suzano at (912) 583-3136."
Suzano is a native of Brazil whose specialty is the clarinet. He comes to
Brewton-Parker from Indiana Wesleyan University and has worked extensively
as clarinet and saxophone performer in both orchestras and churches.
"One of the most rewarding things in life is the ability to do something
that you love for the simple fact that you love doing it -- and not for any
other reason," said Suzano, whose responsibilities at Brewton-Parker also
include conducting the Jazz Band.
"Music is a precious gift and those
who've been given this gift must always look for ways to use it to bless,
inspire and enrich their own lives
and the lives of those around them."
The Brewton-Parker Community Wind Ensemble will have its next rehearsal on
Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall.
