MOUNT VERNON--Taylor Hereford focuses his energies on merging
career challenges with fun.
Work offers opportunities to collaborate the goals in his new role as Brewton-Parker
College's Director of Marketing.
"Strong colleges need professional voices that can communicate with their
various constituents," said Dr. David Smith, President of Brewton-Parker College. "We also need a proven and competent leader to assess their standing
in the community and to determine a plan that will increase our stature among
those who will ultimately decide our success. I believe that Taylor Hereford
can be the driving force to accomplish these important concerns for Brewton-Parker
College."
Energies as Director of Marketing will focus Hereford on developing an integrated
marketing plan focused on student recruitment and establishing a consistent
college image.
"Throughout my career," said Hereford, "I
have consistently faced challenges, and have always liked to be challenged.”
After graduating from the University of Georgia, Hereford spent 3 years working
in the control room of the CBS affiliate in Jacksonville, Fla. He then moved
to Vidalia's WPHJ-TV46 and assumed a range of duties connected with news and
advertising.
Through service with the local television station, Hereford began developing
Brewton-Parker College promotional materials and learned of the institution's
vision.
“At Brewton-Parker College, we are privileged to have faculty from some
of the most respected institutions in the United States," said Brad Kissell,
Brewton-Parker College's Executive Dean for Enrollment Services. “In
addition, our college enjoys a vast array of talented students and staff members
who are experts in their fields. However, Brewton-Parker College has not enjoyed
the notoriety of other famous colleges. Therefore, our goal in hiring a Director
of Marketing is to begin a new era of sharing the real story of our college."
Through the process of working to develop promotional materials, Hereford
began to understand the challenges and opportunities connected with presenting
Brewton-Parker College's message and knew that his career skills could assist.
“I am very excited about hiring Taylor Hereford as our new Director
of Marketing," Kissell said. "He brings to the table a media background,
professionalism, and work ethic that will ensure continued success at Brewton-Parker
College.”
Hereford's experience in mass communications prepares him to tackle a broad
range of tasks involved with developing a consistent message for Brewton-Parker
College.
"Through an integrated approach to marketing, we will take our news stories,
promotional literature, recruitment brochures and advertising to a whole new
level of professionalism that reflects the real Brewton-Parker College," said
Kissell.
"I believe that by developing and implementing
strategic marketing campaigns Brewton-Parker will no longer remain a best-kept
secret. We fully anticipate
that our strategy will increase awareness and subsequently increase enrollment,
in hopes of attracting domestic and international students.”
Taylor and his wife Deborah are members of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia
and its Chancel Choir. In addition, he is part of the His Men Quartet.
The couple has one adopted child, Kenton Taylor Hereford, who was born in
August 2005. They are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their second child, due
in late September of this year.
