Senior Justin Dover of Cartersville, Georgia, has been selected as an Honorable Mention NAIA All-American. Dover, who started for the Brewton-Parker baseball team for four years, earned the honor by posting a .430 batting average in 2006.
Dover’s achievement is even more remarkable considering he only hit .250 in 2005.
“Justin came back this year with tremendous determination to keep his starting position and improve at the plate,” according to Brewton-Parker Assistant Baseball Coach Hayne Brant.
Dover had 180 at bats during the 2006 season and seventy-five hits including nine doubles and one homerun. He drove in thirty-four runs and led the team in stolen bases with twelve.
Dover, who played his last season of college baseball eligibility in 2006, has been selected to be the team’s student assistant for 2007.
“Justin has a real future as a coach,” said Brant. “His work ethic and leadership skills will make him successful.”
This summer Dover is coaching Little League teams in the Dublin area.
