MOUNT VERNON—Two senior Brewton-Parker College women’s volleyball players were recognized as Southern States Athletic Conference Players of the Week this past week.
Debbie Sooter (#1), a 5’6” defensive specialist from Nampa, Idaho, was named Libero of the Week winner in both the SSAC and in Region XIII. This is Sooter’s third week in a row being named the conference winner, and her second week as region winner.
Elizabeth Hinely (#4), a 5’4” setter from Savannah, Ga., was named the SSAC Setter of the Week winner. This is Hinely’s first recognition of the year.
BPC Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Jason Bryant congratulates these ladies on their SSAC recognition.
“Both these young ladies played well in Brewton-Parker’s three match sweep of Reinhardt (College), Brenau (University) and Oglethorpe (University) this past weekend,” Coach Bryant said.
BPC’s match scores for the Sept. 15-16 weekend were 3-0 against Reinhardt, 3-1 against Brenau and 3-1 against Oglethorpe. The Lady Barons fell 3-1 to Division II Albany State University on Sept. 20 in their first home game of the season. The Barons are 6-7 overall and 2-0 in the SSAC. Their first conference home game is Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. against Southern Wesleyan University. Coach Bryant and the Lady Barons invite everyone to show their support in attending the game.
