MOUNT VERNON—Rev. Tom Hearon, a missionary for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, was the guest speaker at the second Chapel Service of Brewton-Parker College’s 2006-2007 academic year held Oct. 3 in Saliba Chapel.
Rev. Hearon has been a missionary for 20 years in Brazil and Italy, and he spoke to the students about “Life on the Edge”, a program that emphasized the importance of missions work and how serving in missions ties in with one’s Christian walk.
Dr. Charles Strickland, executive assistant to the president for church relations, introduced Rev. Hearon and thanked him for bringing his inspirational message to the college’s students, faculty and staff. Brandon Pafford, senior piano performance major, played the piano during the service’s prelude music. Pafford also played the organ during the service’s hymns of praise, while sophomore music major, Jared Register, accompanied him on the piano. Dr. Ben Caston, assistant professor of music, assisted in leading the service hymns to the assembly.
