MOUNT VERNON—Ebony Smiley, 9, a fourth grade student at Montgomery County Elementary School, is putting her final touches on the rocket she constructed and then launched at the Rocket Blast Off Oct. 7 held on the main campus of Brewton-Parker College. The Rocket Blast Off was hosted by the Heart of Georgia Youth Science and Technology Center and Brewton-Parker College’s Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Approximately 20 fourth through sixth grade students, along with their families, participated in this annual educational discovery event. Members of the community joined the students to watch the rocket launches. (Story and photo by Hayley Boisseau/BPC News and Public Information staff writer)
