Baron Singers Christmas Celebration signals season

MOUNT VERNON--More than 150 friends and family of Brewton-Parker College’s Baron Singers filled Saliba Chapel Dec. 8 to hear the seven-member vocal ensemble and its band herald the season with popular Christmas hym ymns, carols and tunes under the direction of Dr. Glenn Eernisse, chair of the college’s Music Division.

The evening’s performance included the following songs: “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, “’Tis the Season”, “The Man with the Bag”, “Holiday Romance”, “Merry Christmas, Darling”, “We Wish you a Merry Christmas”, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”, “There’s a Baby Born in Bethlehem”, “Carol of the Bells”, “Breath of Heaven”, “Angels, From the Realms of Glory”, and their traditional performance of “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” which included a reprise performed with Baron Singers alumni.
The Baron Singers is an auditioned student ensemble, accompanied by student and faculty instrumentalists, well known for its high-energy performances. This year’s ensemble includes sopranos Lauren Knight and Amanda Madson, altos Adrianne Fox and Nicole Mathis, tenor John DeBorde, and baritones Kolby DePratter and Dallas Wilke. Baron Singers’ band members are John Reed (trumpet), Brian Summerlin (trumpet), Matt Pittman (saxophone), Jonathan Lewis (drums), Brandon Herrington (keyboard), Dr. Armenio Suzano (bass guitar) and Dr. Eernisse (trombone and director). The sound technician is Michael Crosby.
