MOUNT VERNON—An overflowing audience greeted the members of the Brewton-Parker College Community Wind Ensemble as they took the stage Nov. 28 in Gilder Recital Hall on the Mount Vernon campus.
The packed house was filled with more than 250 BPC students, faculty and staff and community members, including students from Vidalia City, Montgomery County, Toombs County and Jeff Davis County school systems.
Directed by Dr. Armenio Suzano, associate professor of music, the wind ensemble performed various works, including a march by John Phillip Sousa, the famous Tchaikovsky “Overture 1812”, “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy, the Suite from the opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, and many others.
Solos were performed by the following students: John Reed, Jamie Saxton, Liz Nichols, Andrea Gaston and Matthew Pittman.
The Wind Ensemble is comprised of over 40 BPC students, faculty, and staff, as well as community members and band instructors from local school systems and their elite high school student musicians.
