‘La Voz Hispaña’ partners with new BPC organization
MOUNT VERNON—Rebeca Izaguirre, a representative from Vidalia’s “La Voz Hispaña”, a monthly magazine for South Georgia’s Hispanic community, met with Brewton-Parker College’s newest cultural awareness organization, LASO (Latin American Student Organization) Dec. 6 in the Phillips Student Center lobby.
Izaguirre told the students that the local magazine has several internships available to students interested in learning more about the Hispanic community. She also said that the magazine’s president, Oscar Lopez, is excited about working with the BPC organization in the future. This was the first meeting of the new club that seeks to promote cultural understanding and awareness both on and off campus.
The club is sponsored by the admission’s office and is in the process of accepting applications for executive officers. The organization is open to all BPC students and plans to meet once a month and plan fun activities like socials, dances and awareness projects. To learn more about LASO, contact Morgan Cook, BPC bilingual admissions counselor, at mcook@bpc.edu or 912-583-3267.
