Director of News and Public Information
MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College will host a candle service Thursday, April 26 from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the front lawn of the Mount Vernon campus.
The community is encouraged to join BPC students, faculty and staff in honoring and remembering Virginia Tech with community prayer and memorial after the massacre of 32 students Monday, April 16 on the VT campus. The service is sponsored by BPC Student Government Association and the faith-based organizations on campus. It will include a remembrance speech, reading of victim’s names, remembrance in song and video and a candle lighting and prayer.
“As campus organization leaders, our desire is to provide unity for the Brewton-Parker family. We realize this did not affect us immediately, but as a college campus, we realize the damage done on the VA Tech campus, and this service honors those who lost their lives, but also those who remain to face the days ahead,” said Cody Henderson, newly-inducted SGA president.
To learn more about the service, contact the Office of Student Affairs at 912-583-3207.
