MOUNT VERNON—The BPC Barons baseball team worked on their mission to build mind, body and spirit by building houses for Habitat for Humanity, Sat. Nov. 17.
Team members spent the day working on homes in the Statesboro area. Beginning around 8 a.m., the team split into four groups of work teams. Group one put a roof on a small shed behind one of the Habitat houses. Group two installed siding on another house. Group three worked inside another house, putting up molding and trim. The fourth group cleaned up the construction debris around all the houses.
“It is great to get our guys out into the community to help others,” said head coach Hayne Brant. “We were not only building houses, we were building character.”
“I like to get our guys away from campus and get a real world experience working as a team helping others,” he added.
Brant hopes the team will be able to work with Habitat for Humanity in the future.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
