MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College alumnus Jeremy Morton (’04) returned to BPC last week to speak to students, faculty and staff during the regular chapel service, March 13 in Saliba Chapel.
Morton spoke about being a “Christ follower”. His detailed stories and explanation of what it is to be a Christ follower captured the congregation’s attention. Morton encouraged listeners, “If you know the Lord, you can get through your life circumstances. Praise God just because He is worthy and that He will set you free. When you are free, you will begin to love life.”
Morton has been preaching since he was 16. He is pastor of Crosspoint Baptist Church in Perry and will soon be a graduate of New Orleans Theological Baptist Seminary. He resides in Houston County with his wife, Carrie.
Dr. Armenio Suzano, associate professor of music and director of musical ensembles, facilitated the chapel’s worship music. Dr. Suzano and participating students, Jonathan Lewis, Jared Register, Mandy Madson, and Doug Pittman, led the service with songs “Fairest, Lord Jesus” and “Take My Life”.
Senior Jessica Broughton shared her testimony with the student body as well. She spoke about how the loss of her mother drew her closer to and helped her “fall in love” with God. She encouraged students by saying that God could even use death for His glory, and He could use any of the situations in her peers’ lives for His glory, too.
