Spring Musical Showcase brings BPC’s music to Vidalia

MOUNT VERNON—The second annual Spring Musical Showcase presented by Brewton-Parker College with Sarah and George Chapman of Vidalia brought more than 300 people to Southeastern Technical College’s Toombs Auditorium March 24 to enjoy the evening performance. The event was the highlight of the college’s Alumni Weekend 2007.
Four of Brewton-Parker’s music ensembles gave a combined two-hour performance, with more than four songs performed each. The ensembles included the Concert Choir, Jazz Combo, Baron Ringers (handbells) and the Community Wind Ensemble, whose members include several band directors and students from the surrounding area’s school systems.
To enjoy more BPC music, attend one or more of the following events this March and April. All events will be held on Brewton-Parker’s Mount Vernon campus, and admission is free.
- March 29 – Brewton-Parker’s Choral Society will perform “The Seven Last Words of Christ” at 8 p.m. in Saliba Chapel.
- April 4 -- John Wolters will present a guest recital at 4 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall. NEW!
- April 10 – Dr. Armenio Suzano, associate professor of music, will give a faculty recital at 7 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall. POSTPONED!
- April 12 – The Baron Ringers Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall.
- April 13 – Brandon Pafford, pianist, will perform in his senior recital at 7 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall. Doug Pittman, tenor, will perform in his junior recital earlier in the day at 3 p.m., also in Gilder Recital Hall.
- April 17 – Brewton-Parker’s Community Wind Ensemble Concert will be held at 7 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall.
- April 24 – BPC’s Jazz Combo Concert will be held at 7 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall.
- April 26 – Concert Choir will hold its spring concert at 8 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall.
- April 27 – A final Spring 2007 student recital will be held at 3 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall.
