MOUNT VERNON—Dr. David Gushee of Jackson, Tenn. spoke about Christian marriage at Brewton-Parker College’s recent chapel service Feb. 27 in Saliba Chapel on the Mount Vernon campus.
Gushee shared with students, faculty and staff that Christian marriage is a creation of God, a covenant that is “rock solid” and permanent, and that the church should be a “marriage-keeping” community.
Gushee is the Graves professor of moral philosophy and Senior Fellow of the Carl F. H. Henry Center for Christian Leadership at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He received his Ph.D in Christian Ethics from Union Theological Seminary in New York and was ordained to the ministry in 1987. Gushee, his wife of 23 years, Jeannie, and their three children reside in Jackson, Tenn.
