Education Advisory Council meets, bids farewell to Dr. Claxton

MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College’s Education Division held the Spring 2007 Advisory Council meeting May 2 in the Holliman-Fountain Education Center on the Mount Vernon campus. The advisory council is composed of all full-time BPC Education faculty, selected arts and sciences faculty, an education major and members from a seven-county public school area of administrators, central office personnel and school faculty, said Dr. Melba Claxton, chair of the council and professor of early childhood education at the college.
Dr. Claxton was honored for her many years of service to the advisory council as chair. She retired May 12 after 25 years of educating Brewton-Parker College’s future teachers in the Division of Education. In addition to the individuals in the picture and Dr. Claxton, others attending were Dr. Norma Harper, associate professor of education; Prof. Pat Mercer, education technology instructor and curriculum lab coordinator; Prof. Barbara Reid, assistant professor of education; Dr. Ron Melton, provost, and Dr. Charline Robinson, coordinator of off-campus education programs.
