New computers installed in Jordan labs, classrooms

MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College replaced 68 computers on its Mount Vernon campus this month. The college’s Technology Services Department installed and replaced computers in the campus’ main computer lab and two classrooms in the Jordan Building. According to Chief Information Officer Karl Hay, the new computers have already made a positive impact on student life. “The computers that were in these classrooms were over five years old and were very slow, especially running some of the current applications that students were using in their courses,” Hay said. “These computers have more memory, more hard disk space, and faster processors that will allow students to use the Internet and course software at faster speeds therefore allowing them to complete their course assignments in less time. We’ve already seen more use of the computer lab since the new computers have been installed.” Shown are technology services staff installing the new computers in the Jordan Building.
