Book signing for former professor’s sequel Oct. 23

Marjorie Dobbin |
MOUNT VERNON—Former Brewton-Parker College professor, Marjorie Dobbin of Vidalia, will sign copies of her second novel, “The Pickle Peak Secret”, Tuesday, Oct. 23 in the Phillips Student Center lobby on the Mount Vernon campus between the hours of noon and 2 p.m.
The book, a Christian romance, is a sequel to “In the Shadow of Pickle Peak” (August 2006). “The Pickle Peak Secret” picks up where the first book left off, though it “is not dependent on it for meaning,” said Dobbin.
Dobbin has always been close to words. A retired member of BPC’s Division of Arts & Letters, she was born and raised in the Fingerlakes Region of New York state. While she lived in western New York, from 1956-1980, she began writing for newspapers in the area: the Buffalo Evening News, Jamestown Post Journal, Westfield Republican, and the Brocton Beacon. After getting her undergraduate degrees at SUNY-Fredonia, she continued her education at the University of Georgia, were she earned a Ph.D. in medieval English literature in 1987. She retired from BPC in 2001. She has been writing freelance articles for “Small Farmer’s Journal”, “Countryside” and “Happiness”.
Dobbin lives in Vidalia with her husband, A.B. Albritton. They are active members of Smith Street Baptist Church, the Oconee Council of Telephone Pioneers, Campers on Mission and Crafters for Christ. They also volunteer with the hospices of central Georgia.
