JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Brewton-Parker College women’s volleyball team completed a 3-0 sweep (30-22, 30-13, 30-21) of Edward Waters College Sept. 18 in Jacksonville. The Barons (6-6, 0-3 SSAC) were led by junior Ta Sheena Brown with 22 kills and eight digs.
“Sheena just kept getting the ball and putting it down for points,” said head coach Jason Bryant.
The Barons have overcome hardship so far this season to keep their record at .500 through the first ten matches.
“We have had adversity to start the season,” said Bryant. “We have lost five players to injury and other obstacles. With this we have to have a few people step up their game and Sheena (has done) this in the past couple of matches.”
The Barons split a doubleheader this past weekend when they swept Paine College, 3-0 (30-24, 30-19, 30-12) but lost to SSAC foe Reinhardt College, 3-0 (31-29, 30-24, 30-11). The team travels to Savannah State University and Benedict College this week before returning home Saturday for an SSAC match against Brenau University at 1 p.m.
