MOUNT VERNON—Alltel Communications recently donated 10 cell phones to Brewton-Parker College’s Office of College Advancement to use during the annual Phone-a-thon, which began Oct. 1 and will be held during the evening hours of 6 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays the next two weeks, ending Oct. 11.
All proceeds from the 2007 Phone-a-thon will benefit the McAllister Hall Renovation Project. McAllister Hall is the Mount Vernon campus’ oldest women’s dormitory. Completed in 1957, the estimated $1.5 million renovation will be the first comprehensive update/remodel of the building since it was built.
“Students, faculty and staff will be participating in the Phone-a-thon,” said Tabitha Connell, administrative assistant to the Office of College Advancement. “We will be calling our alumni to update their information in our system and to ask them to make a donation for McAllister. Our goal is $25,000. It will take place in McAllister Lobby.”
“We are pleased to receive such a generous donation from Alltel,” said Roger Byrd, director of development.
