BPC’s Mount Vernon campus to host Blood Drive Sept. 13
MOUNT VERNON—The American Red Cross encourages community members to “roll up their sleeves to save a life” Thursday, Sept. 13 at Brewton-Parker College’s Mount Vernon campus. The Bloodmobile will be set up in the Cook Building parking lot from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for a Community Blood Drive.
The blood drive is sponsored by the college’s Student Government Association, which encourages both college students and members of the community to turn out for the life-saving event. According to the Red Cross, type O and B are “especially needed.”
However, regardless of one’s blood type, participating donors will be entered in a drawing for two Delta Air Lines round-trip international tickets, thanks to the generous donation of Delta. Donors will also be able to register to win the NASCAR Foundation October Race Weekend Package, which includes two tickets to the Friday, Saturday and Sunday races, two Weekend Pre-Race Pit Passes and one parking pass.
Sign up today to give blood on the BPC campus by calling Jessica Broughton, assistant to the Dean of Students, at 912-583-3208. Please bring a photo ID to the event. Donors must be age 17 years or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.
“The experience of donating is so rewarding knowing that your blood can help save a loved one,” adds Broughton. “I believe everyone should donate something of themselves to others.”
