The Brewton-Parker College soccer program hosted the Miss Brewton-Parker College 2008 Pageant as a fundraiser for the program March 27 in Gilder Recital Hall on the Mount Vernon campus. The last time the college hosted such an event was in 2002.
Fifteen lovely contestants participated in the pageant. Each were asked to model an evening gown, have a private interview with the judges before the pageant, and to say a few words onstage about a Bible verse that has meant a lot to them in their lives.
Representing the freshman class were Casey Harrell, Victoria Frazier, Megan Caraway, Kayla Oliver, Mallory Lashley and Jessica Harkins. Contestants from the sophomore class included Mandy Madson, Stephanie Huff, and JaToya McBride. Martina Fenn, Kristi Jenkins, Hailey Seats, Allie O’Neill and Sarah Kessenich represented the junior class. Corrine Bird represented the senior class.

After the evening gown competition, the Top 5 were selected. They included Harkins, Madson, Jenkins, Huff and Caraway. These young ladies then participated in an onstage interview competition.
Following the interview process and the selection from the judges, the former and reigning Miss BPC 2002, Dee Lowery Bennett, crowned Caraway Miss BPC 2008. Harkins won First Runner-up and Madson won Second Runner-up and Miss Photogenic. JaToya McBride won People’s Choice.
Special thanks are extended to the men’s soccer team members for serving as the escorts for the evening and to Adrian Bushart who coordinated the Miss BPC pageant.
“The pageant was a successful fundraiser for the soccer program,” said Bushart. “It has inspired us to host a Mr. BPC pageant next month. Also, the team is selling raffle tickets for two Disney ‘hopper’ passes.”
