BPC announces May 10 commencements, speakers

MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College will hold commencement ceremonies in both Mount Vernon and Hinesville, May 10.
The college’s main campus ceremony in Mount Vernon will be held in Gillis Gymnasium inside the Snooks Student Activities Center beginning at 10 a.m. Doors will open at 9 a.m.
Dr. Brad Creed, Provost and Executive Vice President of Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., will be this year’s commencement speaker in Mount Vernon. Dr. Creed frequently speaks for churches, conferences workshops and groups and is the author of several published works and articles.
He is a professor of Christian history at Samford and has previously been the interim pastor for churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Virginia. He is a member of the Birmingham Kiwanis Club, the 2004 Class of Leadership Birmingham and was the Scholar in Residence at the Baptist Joint Committee on Public Affairs in Washington, D.C. and Visiting Professor of Church History at the John Leland Center for Theological Studies (Falls Church, Va.) in 2000.

Brewton-Parker’s External Programs commencement ceremony will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hinesville, 220 E. Washington Ave. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m.
Dr. Cindy L. Skaruppa, BPC’s Vice President for Enrollment Services, will be the commencement speaker for the Hinesville ceremony. Dr. Skaruppa has previously served in an equivalent position at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, and was the Provost of The American College of Switzerland in Leysin, Switzerland. She is also a senior associate consultant with Noel-Levitz.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia. Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, the college holds classes on its main campus in Mount Vernon and six external learning centers around the state, including Baxley, Glennville, Liberty County, Newnan, Norman Park and Savannah.
