MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College would not be nearly as successful and productive without good leadership, so when it comes time annually to elect the Student Government Association (SGA) president and vice president, students want to make an informed and good decision concerning those who represent them.

On Tuesday, April 1, a presidential debate was held at the Briscoe Center in order for potential presidential and vice presidential candidates to voice their opinions on ways to better the college. The debate was comprised of three sections: a debate between vice presidential candidates, Josh Davis and Kolby DePratter, a debate between presidential candidates, president Cody Henderson and Andrew Tucker, and then a chance for each candidate to individually remark on their campaign ideas.
Students in the audience were also given the option to ask questions to the candidate of their choice. Dr. Cindy Skaruppa, vice president for enrollment services at BPC, moderated the event.
Following the debates, students voted for the candidates. Henderson and Davis will represent the college and SGA as president and vice president for the 2008-2009 academic year.
