MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College’s Student Government Association, along with the Mount Vernon campus’ counseling services, delivered more than $300 worth of toys, teddy bears and clothing to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Baxley earlier this semester.
SGA, under the direction of President Cody Henderson, held its first “Teddies for Kiddies” fundraising drive at the college during the Christmas season. The group collected over $300 in donations during the month of December.

Representatives of the student organization and Tonia Spaulding, director of counseling, presented the gifts to one of the children’s home’s directors, Mark Haley.
“This was a wonderful experience,” said Henderson. “It has opened a door between us and the children’s home to reach out and mentor and minister to these children – as a college and as individuals.”
SGA will continue this outreach throughout the spring semester, Henderson added.
