MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College was again the site for the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Passing Camp July 19-11, organized by local BPC alum, Rev. Bucky Kennedy. Kennedy is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and is the 2008 president of the Georgia Baptist Convention.

The camp, which included football team participation from Vidalia High School, North Hall High School (Gainesville), Appling County High School and Lincoln County High School (Lincolnton), is instrumental in the development of these young men’s minds, bodies and spirits. During the day they work on football drills and scrimmages on the BPC soccer fields, and during the evening they attend special chapel services. According to Rev. Kennedy, 17 young men accepted Christ as their personal Savior during the chapel services this year.
“Brewton-Parker College is always doing what they can to help and support people in this community,” said Rev. Kennedy. “They are helping us have a great camp and want us to be successful. They aren’t just housing us; they are hosting us. I’m thankful to have a place like this in our area. I still think it’s one of the greatest kept secrets in south Georgia. I’m partial and I’m proud – not only for our camp organizer but as an alumni.”
To learn more about the FCA Passing Camp, contact Rev. Kennedy at the church office. Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
