Two groups, the 2008 All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra and the Youth I music camp, met on the college campus last week to receive music instruction from Music and Worship Ministries faculty, including several of BPC’s own faculty. According to program leaders, many of the students who have attended these camps over the years now serve in missions, local church ministries, and many as Ministers of Music in Georgia Baptist churches.
The 2008 All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra is the second such ensemble for the Convention. Formed on the BPC campus last year, this year’s ensemble completed a mission tour to Rochester and Buffalo, N.Y., during the weeklong camp. They performed in a “home concert” June 16 at Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville. These students and faculty took advantage of Brewton-Parker College’s new Hildegard Stanley Music Center’s large instrumental practice facility and new classroom space in the Miller Music Building.
BPC is the only accredited four-year, Christian college in south Georgia. It is affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention.
