BPC Commencement to be addressed by CGE President Bishop

Brewton-Parker College will hold commencement exercises for its Mount Vernon and Liberty County Campus and two other external learning centers in Norman Park and Newnan, Saturday, May 9 on the Mount Vernon campus.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and will be held in the Gillis Gym inside the Snooks Student Activities Center. Doors will open at 9 a.m.
Commencement speaker for the 2009 graduates is Dr. Carolyn G. Bishop, president of Consortium for Global Education (CGE). She supports the international efforts of CGE’s 45 American colleges and universities and their 241 overseas partnerships in more than 80 countries. CGE was founded in 1987. Dr. Bishop has more than 20 years of experience with international public and private schools, government ministries and foreign educational institutions.
“Dr. Carolyn Bishop is a model leader,” said Dr. David R. Smith, BPC President. “Few American leaders in higher education are as widely known or deeply respected as Dr. Bishop. Her inspirational story and remarkable career will allow her to comment on our graduates’ future with international insight. Brewton-Parker College is fortunate to have her as our 2009 commencement speaker.”
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia. Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, the college holds classes on its main campus in Mount Vernon and at its external sites in Liberty County, Newnan and Norman Park.
