Pi Gamma Mu inducts new members to BPC chapter

MOUNT VERNON—The Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Brewton-Parker College hosted an induction ceremony for new members of its honor society, Pi Gamma Mu, Nov. 13 at Steeplechase Restaurant in Vidalia.
The international honor society, under the Georgia Xi chapter at Brewton-Parker, inducted the following students: Jennifer Adams, Kim Cosnahan, Cody Henderson and Stephanie Huff.
Members must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 and a GPA within the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division of at least a 3.00. Each member must also have at least 24 credit hours in the division of social and behavioral sciences with at least half of those being upper-level courses.
The new members join Pi Gamma Mu President, Kerry Talbert.
According to Prof. Vance Rhoades, associate professor of psychology and counseling, these students will have the opportunity to compete in the Pi Gamma Mu scholarship program that awards scholarships to first-year graduate students studying in the area of social and behavioral sciences.
The Georgia Xi chapter was a 2008-2009 Chapter of Merit recipient and was the 2008-2009 Organization of the Year at the college. BPC’s chapter of Pi Gamma Mu co-sponsors The Albert Sidney Johnson Lecture Series and has assisted with college’s Cultural Awareness Week activities.
Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in South Georgia.
