Senior basketball players honored

Brewton-Parker College’s men’s and women’s basketball programs honored nine seniors at the last home game of the 2009 season Feb. 14.
Coach John D. Jones, men’s basketball head coach, and Coach Sheila Simmons, women’s basketball head coach and BPC Athletics Director, recognized the following seniors for their athletic and academic accomplishments:
Ryan Moore (11), a point guard from LaGrange, Ga., was recognized as team captain. He is majoring in sports and fitness.
Rodney Jackson (15), a shooting guard from Enterprise-Ozark Community College of Alabama, plans to pursue basketball at the next level overseas after graduation. He is majoring in sports and fitness.
Maurice Veal (44), a center transfer from Georgia Southwestern in 2007-2008 academic year, was recognized as a prolific shot blocker and dominating “big man” on the team. He is majoring in sports and fitness and plans to pursue a career in recreation management.
Jurbien Byrd (1), a combo guard from Calhoun, Ga., was recognized as one of the most prolific scoring combo guards in BPC history. He is also a team captain. He is majoring in sports and fitness and plans to join the Navy Officer Corps following graduation.

| Kala Gibson (4), a gaurd from Deland, Fla., was voted the “Most Versatile Player”. She is majoring in business administration with a concentration in management. |
Adderlie Todd is the student assistant coach. She is majoring in sports and fitness. |
Shelby Pauling (2), a guard from Orangeburg, S.C., was named All Conference player and led the team in scoring. She is majoring in psychology. |

| Monica Hunter (13), a post from Montgomery, Ala., won the coaches award for “Most Valuable Player”. She is majoring in sports and fitness. |
Tanisha Murray (22), a guard from Statesboro, Ga., was named Academic All-American. She is majoring in human services. |
Trenece Boyd (24), a guard from Miami, Fla., was given the Sixth-Man Award. She is majoring in general studies. |

Kanyatta Gatling (31), a post from Griffin, Ga., led the team in rebounds and blocks. She is majoring in business administration with a concentration in management.

Shameillah Burks (33), a guard from Cowan, Tenn., won the coaches award for hustle. She is majoring in biology. |
Kimberly Ray (34), a post from Dothan, Ala., is a team captain and a Champion of Character. She is double majoring in business administration with concentrations in accounting and information systems.

Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
